The Collection Auto Campus

This four-badge auto campus incorporates multiple dealerships into a coherent design while satisfying the city's demands for specific building materials. Resolving the competing demands by five manufacturers and the local jurisdiction required a special balancing of design by the architect. The project completion date is September 1, 2008.

Brief Description:
This eight-acre site is located at a key intersection in Urbandale's developing northwest quadrant. Two buildings provide four potential "end caps" with auto access for users such as drycleaners or express coffee and sandwich shops.

The project is wood frame and brick veneer and retains a residential scale and character that defines the neighborhood.

Brief Description:
This project is an office and program building of approximately 42,000 g.s.f. to house the State Headquarters of Easter Seals of Iowa. Spaces include shower and bath facilities for Camp Sunnyside, respite care facilities, program and healthcare administration spaces and staff offices.

Brief Description:
Veterans Administration Extended Care Facility houses 183 patient rooms, physical therapy and a secure wing.
The construction consists of a steel frame with precast plank flooring, brick veneer on metal stud exterior wall construction. The mechanical system is three VAV mechanical units located in the basement and ductwork throughout. The 12' floor-to-floor height makes mechanical design and architectural coordination unique and critical.
Amenities include a combination of private and double occupancy bedrooms with individual bathrooms, bariatric unit that includes patient lift systems extending to the bed, toilet and shower. Near the entry is a Public Patient Lounge with a living room-feel by containing a fireplace. Each floor has a Patient Lounge with a TV built into bookcases to provide a home-like setting.
