Inspired by the classical architecture of Italy and Greece, Alan Bowman determined to leave his mark with a new style of design firm. He co-founded EDG in 1969, and for more than 30 years, Bowman has played a leading role the firm placed its distinctive stamp on the central Iowa building landscape, designing everything from corporate campuses to niche development projects. The firm designed the Des Moines corporate headquarters of Marsh, Inc. (formerly Kirke-Van Orsdel Inc.) in West Lakes Office Park, the state-of the-art Carver Conference Center for Pioneer Hi-Bred International and the new Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C., medical and surgical practice building in West Des Moines.
