The impetus for most design projects is an overwhelming desire to do something different. The motivation may be ethereal - a client wanting to make a bold and enduring statement. Or the desire may emanate from a more function need - solving a work flow or productivity problem with bigger better space. Regardless the impetus, the architect's work must stand the test of time.
