Taylor House Hospice
The challenge with this 12-room hospice was to create a warm and comfortable environment for both patients and their families. The project provides for high quality healthcare delivery to terminal patients while making the mechanisms of delivery invisible. Warm materials and Prairie-style design cues add a familiar residential feel and atmosphere.
Iowa Heart Center
This two-story 83,000 s.f. suburban medical clinic specializes in outpatient cardiac healthcare. The facility uses Prairie-style design cues and an 8,000 s.f. atrium to create a warm and patient-friendly waiting area. Interior space breaks down into small sub-waiting areas serving seven individual sub-specialty clinics.
American Prosthetics
This two-story, 17,000 s.f. building combines corporate headquarters and light manufacturing functions under one roof. The client specializes in the design and fabrication of custom fitted prosthetic devices and the design eliminates the need for multiple sites and eliminates many redundancies.
Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons Building
This modern 62,000 square-foot building captures the design elements and grace of Prairie Style architecture while providing state-of-the-art medical facilities. An 11,000 square-foot outpatient surgicenter, full MRI suite and complete physical therapy rehabilitation center are important elements of the design.
LADCO Development: HealthSouth Ambulatory Surgery Center
Today's healthcare providers expect more from their facilities than simply a place to operate. They demand compelling architecture and facilities designed to accommodate volume while allowing for personalized care. This signature medical building caters to two prominent healthcare providers-HealthSouth and Des Moines Eye Surgeons. In addition to fully equipped surgical suites, it offers comfortable venues for preparation and post-operative recovery that appeal to patients and their families.
Using a soaring, extended canopy as a focal point on the outside, the 67,000-square-foot structure features a two-story atrium that invites natural light. The brick facade and anodized aluminum create an edgy design that will stand the test of time.
LADCO Development: Des Moines Eye Surgeons Interior Finish
LADCO is a successful real estate developer with an established practice in building medical offices and treatment facilities. In this portion of the facility, the tenant, Des Moines Eye Surgeons, required an interior finish that integrated its exam, surgical and retail functions into a seamless continuous space. Highly visible with engaging displays of the latest in eyewear fashions, the retail vision shop is designed to appeal to window shoppers as well as patients.
The importance of connecting and integrating eyecare and eyewear appears in other features of the building. For example, the two-sided elevator at the building's entrance transports patients directly to the state-of-the-art, 23,000-square-foot surgical center in comfort and privacy, but not before they pass the inviting retail eyewear display adjacent to the building's two-story atrium.
